Russian Roulette

Russian Roulette

russian rouletteDo not misunderstand here, Russian roulette is very much a game. It is not any game that you will find in casinos though, land-based or online. That is because Russian roulette is played for deathly stakes, and players could very well end up with a case of serious deadness should they lose! You may have heard of Russian roulette before, but let’s take a slightly closer look at it.

One online casino actually launched a game that was based on this ”variations” of Roulette. 32Red Casino had a game known as ”Strip or Die”, but due to various people giving negative feedback about the whole concept, seems like they have gotten rid of it.

What is Russian roulette?

If you don’t know what Russian roulette is, then now is the time to pay attention! Russian roulette is a deadly game of chance. Players sit around a table (usually numbering just two or three), and a single round is placed into the cylinder of a revolver (yes, a gun!). The player places the muzzle of the gun against their forehead (or temple), and pulls the trigger. If the gun does not go off, the next player does the same. If it does, you are dead. If you are playing with a six-shooter, then you have a 1 in 6 chance of dying!

The history of Russian roulette

The history of Russian roulette is very cloudy. Some sources state that the Russian army did this in Romania in 1917, but many others cite its origins even earlier, in nineteenth century Russia. Mikhail Lermontov’s 1840 novella “The Fatalist” even depicts someone surviving a game of Russian roulette. Today, Russian roulette is a thing of the movies, although it is doubtlessly played by some desperate fools.

This one shouldn’t take too long to explain. You need only use logic to understand. Do you think Russian roulette would be legal? Of course it isn’t. Today, you are most likely going to be facing manslaughter charges if you play Russian roulette, and your opposing player blows his brains out. Some Russian roulette games are played where players take turns to “fire” at each other. In this case, if the gun goes off, you’ll either be guilty of murder or you’ll be dead. Neither are terribly exciting prospects.

There have been many cases of fatalities when Russian roulette has been played.

This seems to be a common theme with players of this “game”. Many players feel as though they have points to prove, and play in order to convince others of their loyalty. Granted, this is mostly in the criminal underground world. Others will instead play Russian roulette is an attempt to commit suicide. Those suicidal players with religious backgrounds may feel that their “luck” at the game is actually divine intervention, and that God has something left for them to do on Earth.

Even magicians and illusionist have tried to play Russian roulette (some with non-live rounds). You might think that they would be at no risk, but if the rounds get mixed up, history has shown that even they have paid the ultimate price for playing what they thought was a safe game.

A word of warning

Russian roulette  is a desperate and atrociously game of chance, which can easily claim your life. This high-stakes game just doesn’t have any reward worth putting your life on the line for. DON’T EVER PLAY THIS GAME
