Quickspin fails to deliver with their newest slot
Much was expected of the new Dragon Shrine slot. When we first heard of this release, we imagined all sorts of Ancient Chinese imagery, big red dragons, and temples aplenty.
Imagine our disappointment when we opened the old girl up, only to find that she has just two thematic symbols, and the rest of them are a bunch of recycled, predictable imagery from bygone slots.
High playing card icons and overly chunky brick looking gemstones make up the vast majority of this slot’s imagery, leaving many players to wonder just what exactly is the point of having a dragon themed slot which scarcely has any dragons in it?
Most players will come to exactly the same conclusion when they start spinning the reels of this slot machine game. Dragon Shrine is an epic disappointment, and that is us being kind. If you don’t believe us, then read on to discover where we think it all went spectacularly wrong for this rather simple and boring video slot.
What we love
There are two nifty features in Dragon Shrine, but together they are the only reasons you would choose to play this game. The first of these is a 2-for-1 deal on paylines.

The slot contains 40 of them, and you can get to play with all 40 even though you only pay for half of the them. It all sounds smashing, but is that enough to make anybody play the game?
In the free spins bonus round, the paylines are altered so that they pay both ways. This certainly does boost your chances of landing a win. However, this feature is only present in the free spins bonus round, not the base game. If it were present in the base game, the slot would be a little more enjoyable.
What we do not like
There’s plenty we don’t like. For starters, the theme of this slot is seemingly absent, save for a special re-spin icon and a scatter. These hardly seem enough to warrant the title the slot has, and we feel a little bit cheated in that department.
The non-progressive jackpot in this slot is woefully pitiful. It is only worth 10x your total bet. With the second highest payout being worth just 3x your total stake, you need to win seemingly all of the time to make any headway in this slot.
From a features perspective, it seems as though Quickspin hasn’t done any more than they absolutely have to in this slot. They certainly aren’t pushing boundaries, which makes for a so-so slot at best.
Worth playing?
Not really, no. Quickspin has underperformed with the Dragon Shrine slot, and underperformed by a long, long way.
The slot is unable to offer you big wins, it costs a pretty penny to play, it features woefully bad graphics which have nothing to do with the theme, and the game is poorly designed in other departments, too. Do yourself a favour and give this one a wide berth.
