Microgaming Just Launched Win Sum Dim Sum Slot Machine

This game is one of the two recently announced games by Microgaming (the other one being Bar Bar Black Sheep). Win Sum Dim Sum is based on Chinese food (as you can probably imagine) inspired specifically in the dish on its name: Dim Sum. The game is based with a set of 5 x 3 reels and 9 paylines, which is quite traditional in the titles out there nowadays.

The layout is all about the Chinese culture: The symbols on the reels are other Chinese dishes, such as the dumplings, and even the most traditional of them (J, Q, and K) have been given Chinese-like strokes to make them fit with the rest of the theme.

Microgaming is a company that, I personally think, should have no introduction. The developer company is responsible for having rewarded the second biggest progressive jackpot ever, having granted a lucky player with the generous amount of 13 million pounds just last year. What We Love

The visual design of the game is all good, since it makes it fit with the theme of the game. It is vibrant, colorful and not boring at all. The animations are just as good even for being quite “normal” and traditional. The design from this game might attract the players, but it also has some special feature that might make them stay.

The most important feature in Win Sum Dim Sum is the Expanding Wilds, which are not unique from this game, but it gives it the touch it needed to make it more interesting. The Wilds in this game are represented as Bamboo Steamers. Whenever you make a combination of three or more of them these will expand vertically throughout the whole reel taking over it.

This will allow you to make bigger, better, and more combinations on your reels. Opposite to regular reels these ones are more exciting, thus stacking these Bamboo Steamers across the nine paylines will heat up more than dumplings.

This expanded vertical Bamboo Steamers have a little bit more to offer, since they are available in the Free Spin rounds in the three center reels (2nd, 3rd and 4th). If you hit three wilds in these the three of them will become Expanding Wilds. Can you imagine all the combinations you could make with those three Wilds? What We Do Not Like

Unconventional themes are always a long shot. Sometimes something good can be created with them, but this time it is not quite as inspiring or attracting. Sure, the theme is very original and unique (most likely the only one out there), but Win Sum Dim Sum appears to be something someone came up with after having Chinese take-outs after running out of ideas.

To fit the kind of boring theme we also have the kind of boring gameplay. As fun and as appealing the game might look the Expanding Wilds and the Free Spins, plus the not-that-good jackpot certainly do not make the cut.

Worth Playing?

As boring as the game might seem, it does look fun, I’ll give it that. It has a decent maximum payout and the Expanding Wilds give the game a dash of excitement.

I wouldn’t recommend this game to someone looking for something extraordinary, but if the traditional slots are what you like, then you should give it a go once it comes out.I do have to warn you though. This game will make you crave some Chinese food, that’s for sure.
