The game is quite different than what we are used to find out there in the market, since the reels in this game do not spin, although they do float.

The theme of the game seems to be inspired, not in the party animals you would find in the Las Vegas dancing on tabletops, but the ones that we might all find in our kid’s parties (or our own ones when we were little boys and girls). All of the symbols that decorate our reels this time are made of balloon figures. These symbols are animals like the giraffes, the elephants, and the monkeys, along with two odd characters original from the theme of the game, a yellow star, and the traditional J, Q, K, and A poker cards, also made as balloon figures.

The game started as a small project, as a light weight slot machine intended for mobile devices only, but with the popularity the game gained, the company decided to make the game available for personal computers too through web browsers as usual.

What We Love

There are a lot of things to be loved in this game. First of all, since all of the symbols are actual balloons, they float upward. Every time you make a combination with these symbols, they pop, making the ones that were below them float up to fill the empty spaces, making even more symbols to be revealed at the bottom. This quite original feature allows you to make more combinations than you would be able to make in a regular spin in a regular slot machine.

There are scattered multipliers. The yellow stars appear only in the first, second and third reels. Whenever one appears, it doubles up the pay-line earning, and, in addition, it leaves a 5x multiplier for the further spins. If you manage to keep getting stars, these will keep stacking up multipliers. Also, the wilds will be represented with the odd red character to be replaced with any symbol (except for the special ones) to help you make even more combinations across all of the available pay-lines.

Last but definitely not least, the balloon symbols also appear on the first, second and third reels only. If you manage to get three of these symbols, a pick feature will be triggered where you will be asked to choose one out of three balloons to reveal the number of free spin rounds you will be rewarded with under them. During the free spins the grid will slightly change and the star multipliers will appear more than they often would during the regular spins.

As you might have already though, all of these features were certainly made to boost the game profitability and playability by a lot. Balloonies features a RTP of 96.23% which is actually quite good.

What We Did Not Like

I could not be able to find something a did not like about this game for a fact. Balloonies is flawless! And International Game Technology made an incredible work with this game. The only thing I wouldn’t be pleased with is something that I’ve said several times in my experience reviewing slot machines: The use of the traditional poker cards. But this is not significant enough to actually figure into this section as something I did not like about the game.
