Check Out Thunderkick’s Newest Creation Babushkas Slot
Later this month, Thunderkick is set to launch their new Babushkas video slot, as they aim to take on a slot theme which has only scarcely been covered before in the online casino world.
Leaving aside any arguing over the title of the game (which we know is wrong, when the theme is Matryoshka dolls), what can we expect from Thunderkick’s latest offering, when it arrives on August 24?
Babushkas isn’t that different from other Thunderkick slots, at least in terms of design. There are the same odd-numbered 17 paylines as we have seen in their games before, and their graphics are just as eye-catching as others.
One thing Babushkas does do, though, is make a total mess of what could have been a very simplistic level-up feature. We’ll come to that in a moment, though. First, what do we like about it?
What we love
It seems wrong to be too negative about Babushkas, but Thunderkick have made it exceptionally hard to make Babushkas likeable in any other way, save for its graphics. Okay, the fact that it is fairly cheap is always going to be a plus, as is the fact that you can win as much as 400x your total bet.
There’s no arguments from us there. The ability to use wilds to trigger special features is also appreciated, since it saves the need for scatter or bonus icons. After all, we’re firm believers in the less symbols that appear on the reels, the better your chances of landing wins.
What We Do Not Like
Pretty much everything aside from graphics, wagers, and wilds in Babushkas is not to our liking. For starters, although there are three free spin features, two of them are next to useless.
There is a primitive level up feature in this game, and it doesn’t really work as well as you can find in other slots (such as those from IGT). Levelling up barely bolsters your wins, and the fact that two special features simply level you up doesn’t help Babushkas’ case at all.
Then there is the free spins bonus game. You get a total of 7 free spins, and although you can prosper from a sticky wild, it hardly counts as a substitute for what is best described as rather poor workmanship from Thunderkick with this game.
Not everything is bad in Babushkas. There are going to be some players out there who quite like the theme, the design, and think that the level up feature is a nice touch for a Thunderkick slot.
One can’t deny that, or criticise those players. However, from our own end, there is virtually no way that Babushkas is going to be the most talked about slot this summer.
It is not a blockbuster, and will probably struggle to make any kind of impact at major casinos. Babushkas might be fine for a quick look – only if you’re curious – but beyond that, there’s little of interest in this Thunderkick slot game.
