Have you tried Yggdrasil’s Vikings Go Wild slot machine? Most players seem to love it. The format and formula for this game have proven rather successful for Yggdrasil gaming.
When Yggdrasil announced that they would be unveiling a sequel known as Vikings Go Berzerk, then, we had one big question. Will they change the format or keep it the same?
Yggdrasil usually likes to be innovative when it comes to their slots and features. We often find new elements to all their latest releases. What to do about Vikings Go Berzerk is a tough-one, though. On the one-hand, if they change the winning format too much, the slot could either be a huge success, or a bust.
Or they could play it safe, and presumably the same players who loved the original would also fall in love with the format in this sequel. Yggdrasil has chickened out, and gone for the latter. Unfortunately, they may have been clinging too tightly to the same format; so much so that you could barely tell that Vikings Go Berzerk is a new game at all.
How to play it
Vikings Go Berzerk features a dull and unoriginal 5-reel, 25-line format, and players are not going to be able to get much give out of those paylines. They are going to have to play with all of them.
Wagers then are set to cost $0.25 per spin at their cheapest. How much can you wager with the maximum wager? We don’t know that yet, but our guess is around about $250 per spin, if normal logic concerning Yggdrasil slots holds up.
How much can you win?
The amount you can win does vary, too. Players should be able to pocket wins which are worth at least 400x their total bet. That is about standard for any video slot from this developer, although much like the maximum stake, we’re not quite sure just how high the non-progressive jackpot in this slot will rise.

Wild symbols: If you have played the Vikings Go Wild slot, then you will be well familiar with the wilds in this game. They can appear as bold “wild” symbols, and they can substitute for all other symbols in the game. They aren’t the only wilds you will come across, though. In the free spins feature, wilds take on a whole new appearance and have a whole new purpose.
Scatter symbols: Scatter icons can trigger a Ragnarök feature (Ragnarök is the Viking tale of the end of the world). You will need 3 such symbols to appear on the reels to activate the free spins bonus.
Rage Meter: Another way you can trigger the free spins bonus is to fill up a Rage Meter. This meter fills up a little every time a Viking appears on the reels of the base game, or the free spins feature itself. Once it is full, a free spins bonus begins.
Free spins bonus: How many free spins you get to start the bonus with depends on how you triggered the feature – either via scatters or the Rage Meter. Once the bonus is triggered, another familiar feature returns from the original slot. Any Vikings which appear on the reels will do battle with a sea serpent.
If they win the day, they become sticky wilds for the duration of the bonus. If they are defeated, they simply remain Viking symbols. By effectively using this Vikings Go Berzerk feature correctly, you could end up with a screen filled with wilds.
Overall experience and final thoughts
We do have a definitive release date for the Vikings Go Berzerk slot. Yggdrasil is planning to unveil the game on November 24. That being said; you can actually get hold of it at select casinos one day earlier on November 23, as an exclusive launched. We don’t yet have a list of those casinos which are offering it earlier.
Vikings Go Berzerk contains a nifty selection of features, although we’ve seen them all before. Aside from the graphics (which are marginally better in this sequel), there is nothing new in the slot.
Personally, we’re a little disappointed by that, and we had hoped that Yggdrasil would take more of a risk. There is every chance that you will welcome a return of the old, though, so how much Vikings Go Berzerk impresses is totally down to you.
