The Flintstones

Theme

The Flintstones slot logoThe Flintstones was a cartoon released all the way back in 1960, fifty six years ago. Despite being aired only for six years, it left a lasting impact in world culture, and it spawned a large number of movie adaptations, spin-offs, new series, crossovers with other Hannah-Barbera cartoons, among other things.

This lasting cultural legacy led to the creation of a physical Flintstones slot machine by WMS, which could be played in some casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada. This slot machine features a layout similar to a pinball machine, where the reels are located on the bottom screen, a tactile screen, and an upper screen is used for flavor animations, and some bonus minigames.

The physical slot proved successful, and now Playtech has secured licensing rights from Hannah-Barbera to create a Flintstones online slot machine. No longer will players be forced to go to Vegas in order to enjoy some wholesome Flintstones gambling fun. Playtech announced this new release via their YouTube channel, along with other interesting looking titles, like Top Gun, Ace Ventura, and Age of the Gods.

Developer

Playtech was founded almost seventeen years ago, back in 1999. They are suppliers of online casinos, providing full suites for operators. They develop actual games, from slot machines, card games, and so on; and they also develop their own proprietary online casino management software, IMS.

They claim on their website to be “the world’s largest online gaming software supplier traded on the London Stock Exchange Main Market”, a fact which would be much more impressive if it weren’t so incredibly specific. The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is one of the largest stock exchanges worldwide, so perhaps we’re being unfair to Playtech. Anyhow, Playtech is a very important player in the industry, given their presence in several markets and market segments in the world of online gambling.

How to Play It

Playtech slots follow the same design layout for their user interface elements, all located on the bottom of the screen (like the overwhelming majority of online slot machines).

On the left side, you have the info button (which lets you see all the relevant information on the gameplay), and settings for the number of pay lines you are bettig on, and the line bet. On the center, there’s the win and total bet indicators. On the right side, there are three buttons: Auto Play, Turbo Mode, and Spin.

Special Features

We don’t have much info on this slot machine yet, but what little we know tells us plenty. Based on the release announcement trailer on YouTube, we can say two important things about the Flintstones slot machine.

It is evident that two features from the WMS slot will appear here. The same sprinkling of wild symbols during free spins appear here, in a similar fashion to the physical version. There’s also seemingly the same bowling minigame, where choosing a ball gave you a multiplier, and choosing a bowler (a Fred and Barney in different outfits) gave you chance to hit (and win the bonus).

Another feature, common to Playtech slots, is the Turbo Mode button. This button lets you spin, but saving some seconds from the win animations. This will certainly prove popular with players playing for a long time, or those who are simply annoyed by flashy animations.

Maximum Payouts

This info still hasn’t been released by Playtech. We expect to have it made public sooner rather than later.

Summary

Although there’s still not much information available, the Flintstones online slot seems like a great title to play with. We are certainly looking forward to give it a spin.
