Genesis Gaming’s new Live Jazz slot is a step up for them. There have been a few jazz themed games released before from other developers, and a few of those have been rather entertaining. Genesis Gaming have captured the best elements of those, and worked them into their slot here.
To be fair, the game isn’t half bad, and contains some really thematic imagery which really does pay homage to the 1950s jazz bar scene.
Everything about the Live Jazz slot impresses – from its graphics, to its wagering range, prizes and features. In fact, you’d have to work hard to find something that is really wrong with the slot. The only thing we can think of is that it is not mobile-friendly.
That’s hardly the end of the world, though, right? Live Jazz was launched this month at all good casinos offering Genesis Gaming software, and although it isn’t the best ever jazz club themed slot devised, it certainly ranks right up there amongst them.
How to play it
Live Jazz shouldn’t pose any players too many problems. Whether they are newbies, skilled amateurs, or seasoned veterans, the gameplay in Live Jazz is very basic, and really easy to get to grips with. Players can use the bright wagering menu to stake anything from as little as $0.01 per line, per spin on this game.
If you wish to flex your financial muscles, why not try playing with the maximum wager. It is not too extortionate at just $100 a pop. The only thing some players may complain about is that there are only 5 paylines on the reels of this slot, but we think that makes it quaint, rather than act as a handicap.
How much can you win?
Don’t expect to win millions on the Live Jazz slot. It will only cough up 200x your total bet, and that is only if you line up 5 wilds on any active payline.
The good news is that the Live Jazz slot pays out at a RTP rate of 97.25%, so you’re winning something more often than not, even if it won’t buy you a house. The same cannot be said of many other Genesis Gaming slots.

Wild symbols: What you’ll ideally be aiming to land on the reels of this slot are wild symbols. As we’ve said, they act as the best paying symbols, as well as doing their customary job of being substitute icons. Wilds take on the shape of the game’s title logo and appear as single-icon symbols.
Scatter symbols: Scatter symbols can offer you wins worth 5x, 25x or a fairly nifty 75x your total bet if you can land 3, 4 or 5 of them on the reels in any position at the same time. Scatters appear as full moon/musical note symbols, and they can also trigger a bonus feature when 3 or more are located on the reels in any position.
Free spins / Bonus features
Free spins bonus: The free spins bonus round in this slot is known rather unimaginatively as the Live Jazz bonus. What it does is far more creative, though.
There’s no dorky free spins feature here. The Live Jazz bonus allows players to select locations and instruments to bag up to 25 free spins and up to 5 extra wild symbols. This can really make your free spins bonus round go off with a bang. We liked it a lot, and won fairly frequently when trying out this bonus.
Gamble feature: We’re not a big fan of gamble features in general, so there was never much hope of Live Jazz’s gamble feature impressing. It is a waste of time, if we’re perfectly honest. You can potentially double or triple your winnings, but the odds of doing so are 50% or less.
That doesn’t really fill you with too much enthusiasm, so we’d recommend skipping this feature entirely. We did and the slot wasn’t any worse for wear for it.
Overall experience and final thoughts
What can be said about Live Jazz? In comparison to other jazz club themed slots out there, it holds its ground. It has better imagery than most, and its bonus features are decent.
The wagering range is fair. However, it doesn’t tend to cough up as many large prizes as other jazz club themed games, even if it does pay out often. That certainly isn’t a reason to dismiss this game, though, since it is as cheap as chips to play.
